The Šturmovci landscape park
The Šturmovci landscape park is located near Ptuj by Lake Ptuj. This is a remnant of the riparian landscape, which has been protected as a landscape park since 1979. It covers a modest 125 ha and is a refuge for animals and plants, many of which are on the red list of rare and endangered species. The name Šturmovci or Šturmovec comes from the German Sturmau (der Sturm - storm, die Aue - bow). It is bordered by Lake Ptuj on the northwestern side, the slopes of Haloz on the southern side, and the confluence of the Drava and Dravinja rivers on the east. It is a wide floodplain and is an effective high water retainer. In recent times, it has been recognized as one of the most beautiful small landscape parks in Slovenia. You are welcome to see for yourself.
